BOOKS I WANT TO READ BUT DON’T WANT TO READ TAG LOGO!

So…no rules? Okay…

I would like to give a biiiiiiig thank you to Angelica over at her blog The Book Cover Girl! Find her amazingly bookish blog over here. Go follow her! Thanks again Angelica!

Questions:

I’m assuming that this is a different kind of tag, and that I just do the questions that Angelica did…correct me if I’m wrong….onto the questions…

A BOOK THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO READ BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE IS TALKING ABOUT IT:

Um, honestly I’ve never done anything like that. I’ve never read a book because everyone was talking about it. Actually, I did it once…when my sister was reading this super huge book called

Eragon, by Christopher Paolini.

(it was literally two inches thick with kinda tiny print), and she kept talking about it with my brother…and I felt like I needed to talk about it too… Lol, so I read it and ended up reading the whole massive series.

A BOOK THAT’S REALLY LONG:

Keeper Of The Lost Cities: Nightfall BY SHANNON MESSENGER.

(also about two inches thick, except with a bit bigger print), by Shannon Messenger, my favorite author of all time. I had no problem reading this book, because:

  1. It was really cool and fun to read it.
  2. It was the book in the middle of the greatest series on earth, therefore I had to read it to figure out what was going to happen.

A BOOK THAT YOU’VE OWNED/HAD ON YOUR TBR FOR TOO LONG:

Something I just have to say: I’m pretty sure TBR means To Be Read, right? Correct me if I’m wrong. Onto the question.

iNHERITANCE BY CHRISTOPHER PAOLINI.

Its about 847 pages long, and it the hugest most massive ginormous book I’ve ever encountered. I have not gotten around to reading it, being caught up with all of these other series, but I’m going to read it….someday….

A BOOK THAT IS ‘REQUIRED’ READING
(EG, SCHOOL TEXT, REALLY POPULAR CLASSIC – SOMETHING YOU FEEL OBLIGATED TO READ!):

mACBETH BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE.

I have to read it for my 7th grade English, but from what I’ve picked up from the movie and book covers, its a medival horrer story. Also, its Shakespeare. I picked up a Shakespeare story for fun once, and it was almost like it was in a different language. *sigh* But its for school, so I HAVE to read it…

A BOOK THAT INTIMIDATES YOU:

SHerlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Again, this is a required school book, but have you seen how long it is? Or the kind of book it is? A MYSTERY BOOK. The only mystery books I’ve been able to get through is Nancy Drew (yuck, looking back on her books now, I hate them) and Murder on the Orient Express, which wasn’t that scary and I skipped most of it.

A BOOK THAT YOU THINK MIGHT BE SLOW:

JANE EYRE BY CHARLOTTE BRONTE.

I’ve been wanting to read it but it sounds like a Jane Austen novel, one that has a massive amount of dialoge. I really like Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, so I’m not totally against Jane Austen, its just during her books you really have to pay attention to who is talking and EVERYTHING. I’ve heard Jane Eyre is really good though, so that won’t stop me.

A BOOK YOU NEED TO BE IN THE RIGHT MOOD FOR:

ANY OF THE BOOKS BY RICK RIORIDAN.

His books are awesome and hilarious, don’t get me wrong there, but sometimes there are just too many jokes. Sometimes I want a serious book, one that does not always making you snort and giggle. Also, the Lightning Thief is like a shallow series, and it really didn’t make me feel anything. Like, the KOTLC series makes me feel like I really really want to be an elf, or wonder which ability I would have, and want to just keep reading and find out what’s next. The Lightning Thief Series is not like that. Its like: “Oh, Percy is a demigod, he fights some monsters, saves the world, what’s new?”…. So….I’m not a huge fan of that series, but the Heroes of Olympus Series I really liked.

A BOOK YOU’RE UNSURE IF YOU WILL LIKE:

fAIREST, BY GAIL CARSON LEVINE.

I’ve skimmed over it once, and I want to read it again, but I’m really not sure if I’m going to like it. I really liked the concept (an ugly girl-part-gnome that gains favor by her voice, but then..i forgot) and I really really want to read it again, but I’m not sure if I’m going to last through the whole book. Gail Levine’s books are really fabulous, but its just this one I’m unsure about.

PEOPLE I NOMINATE:

Great post! Unfortunately, I am going to to have to disagree with you a little bit on Nancy Drew but, same as you, I LOVE Heroes of Olympus. I have that series and the first on my shelf. You said you like serious parts and I think Heroes of Olympus really helps in giving serious parts: The Lost Hero; Piper with her dad; Son of Neptune; Hazel’s past, Franks struggle with the small wood piece, Percy with amnesia; Mark of Athena; Annabeth’s conflict with her mother, the Athena Parthenos, and Arachne; House of Hades; Percy and Annabeth’s time in Tartarous (Percy’s fight with misery, that was really serious); Blood of Olympus; Leo’s plan, Percy with PTSD of what happened in Tartarous. The Heroes of Olympus is definitely more serious that Percy Jackson and the Gods of Olympus which is why I, like you, love it so much. Mark of Athena is my favorite because all of the characters meet each for the first time. What’s your favorite? And what does KLOTC stand for?

    1. I love Mark of Athena too. I really like the Gods of Olympus series because it is evenly mixed with seriousness, and comicalness (is that how you spell it? Anyways, in this series, my favorite charecter is Leo.). KOTLC (I misspelt it) stands for Keeper Of The Lost Cities, which is one of my favorite series.

When I saw KOTLC I thought it looked familiar. I have a Pinterest account so, if you have ever been on Pinterest, I see a lot of book series or tv shows that people really like. Some of the books I have read is because I saw it every where and wanted to know what was going on. I don’t do it with all books I see, I look it up first so I can see if I will find it interesting. But I will look up KOTLC and maybe that will give me another book series to read.

      2. The whole 7 book series is so amazing! I promise, if you liked the Heroes of Olympus series, you’ll like Keeper Of The Lost Cities.

  3. Jane Eyre is a bit slow but I really enjoyed it. I read it on my own and then again from school and I even managed to enjoy it the second time around!

    1. I feel like I’m going to enjoy Jane Eyre no matter what. I bet I’ll end up re-reading it too! ❤

  4. I totally recommend Sherlock Holmes. It’s really interesting and suspenseful. Also, if you feel ready for it, the BBC show Sherlock is really good too. (It’s TV-14, though, so I’m not sure how you feel about that :P)

    1. Cool! I’m going to hold off on Sherlock Holmes for a month, until I am required to read it.

Maybe in a bit I’ll ask my mom and check out the show. Thanks!

  5. I’m so glad you did the tag! Jane Eyre is such a good book, definitely one of my favorites but yes, it does get a bit slow at times. It’s totally worth reading though! And I’ve always wanted to read Sherlock Holmes but I always end up avoiding it. Maybe I’ll get to it one day soon. Hopefully we both like it!

    1. I really enjoyed doing the tag, and I’m so happy that you nominated me!

Whenever I picture Sherlock Holmes in my mind, its a super long book filled with super super boring stuff like:

“Oh, this piece of information that was about 100 pages back in the book ties to this piece of information and therefore the whole case is solved”. *sigh* I’m eventually going to HAVE to read it though.

      1. That’s definitely why I’m afraid to read it lol. Hopefully it’s more entertaining than that !

  6. Jane Eyre is good!!! Though I stopped in the middle and haven’t picked it up since for some reason, lol. And really?! I LOVE the Percy Jackson series!!! I find it so incredibly strange that you don’t! xD I have read like the first chapter of Eragon, but that is all… Is it good??

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Yes! Eragon is really good, but its also really complex and hard.
